Ame-no-Uzume-no-mikoto (天宇受売命, 天鈿女命) »
goddess of dawn, mirth and revelry in Shinto; the great persuader and the heavenly alarming female. She is the one who lured the sun goddess Amaterasu (天照) out of her self-imposed exile, returning sunlight to the world. Overturning a tub near the cave entrance, Uzume began a dance…

Children have the power to change the world, yet millions every year do not even reach the age of five. That is why Unicef is declaring a War on Disease. Unicef helps vaccinate almost half the world’s children, and are now recruiting an army of supporters so that UNICEF can do even more. Because UNICEF believe that every child should survive, thrive and fulfil their potential, and that is something worth fighting for. Join the resistance today. Together we can win this war. Like Amatareasu appearing from her cave, after more than 20 years Hardy is back in 2020.
And in full technicolor→

I exclaim to a friend in Tokyo… “I just left my everything in a cafe and wandered off. Forty minutes later its still there!” “Garry” she replies, “We are Japanese, why would we want your rubbish?”
*
And that was my inspiration and challenge. Can I make something they would take. And if I can. Then it will be a very good piece of work. And then, if I can convince the Japanese… I can convince anyone.

Meanwhile. Enter Miko stage right → “I’m a dancer” said the Japanese girl in Nihonbashi. “Really” said Garry  “Yeah watch” and Miko does the splits. “Come to my show tonight” she smiles. Me and Leica front row. And here I had, what I thought might capture how I see Japan – beautiful, elegant, bold and joyful.
